Can Perplexity Computer Apply to Jobs for You? (2026)
SIMPLEAPPLY · AI JOB SEARCH
Updated October 2026
Short answer: Perplexity Computer can do a lot of the prep, like finding roles, tailoring your resume and building a tracker. Perplexity's own job applications page describes the output as materials "ready for your review." It doesn't say Computer submits applications to employers. You still apply on each company's system, or use a tool that applies there for you.
If you've searched anything about AI job search lately, you've probably seen Perplexity's ads: "Job Search on Autopilot" and "Your AI Job Application Team." Here's what's behind them, based on Perplexity's own pages and hands-on reviews.
What is Perplexity Computer?
Perplexity calls Computer "a general-purpose digital worker that operates the same interfaces you do" (Perplexity). It launched on February 25, 2026 and runs in the cloud, splitting big tasks across several AI models (PCWorld). Perplexity says it's available to Pro and Max subscribers and connects to tools like Gmail, Slack, Notion and Google Calendar.
It's a different product from Comet, Perplexity's AI browser, which works in your own browser tabs.
What Perplexity says Computer does for job applications
Perplexity's job applications page lays out four steps: analyze your LinkedIn profile, scan job boards for matching roles, tailor resumes and write cover letters for each role, and build an application tracker "ready to review" (Perplexity). It also says Computer can remember your preferences and watch for new postings.
| Job search task | Perplexity Computer |
|---|---|
| Find roles that match your background | Yes, scans job boards and filters by location and seniority |
| Tailor your resume and write cover letters | Yes, per role |
| Track applications | Yes, builds a tracker in Google Sheets, Notion or Docs |
| Alert you to new postings | Yes, says it can watch for new high-fit roles |
| Submit applications on Workday, Greenhouse, Lever or iCIMS | Not claimed. Output is "ready for your review" |
| Collect employer replies | Not claimed |
What about Comet, Perplexity's browser?
Built In tested Comet for a job search and found it useful for research, LinkedIn networking and drafting, with "mixed luck" filling out forms. The reviewer also found Comet couldn't submit applications that need cover letters or other written answers on its own, and warned that it can generate details that don't match your background (Built In).
The bottom line
Perplexity Computer is a strong research and prep assistant for a job search. The last mile, actually submitting on each employer's application system and catching the replies, is still on you. That's the gap a personal job search agent fills.
The part that takes the most time: submitting
Most serious roles don't let you apply on a job board. They send you to the company's own application system. In our data, Workday alone hosts about 1 in 5 software engineer, product manager and data analyst postings, and it asks for a separate account at each company. That's the step that eats hours, and it's the one general AI agents leave to you.
